Ok so this is a little virus going around that I first saw [livejournal.com profile] tempertemper  with & then both [livejournal.com profile] huronia  & [livejournal.com profile] melissasdavid  tagged me so here we go. I have to tag 10 ppl but those 3 already did one so I'm gonna go with these 7: [livejournal.com profile] hmsharmony , [livejournal.com profile] iam_space , [livejournal.com profile] ladybelletrist , [livejournal.com profile] ladychi , [livejournal.com profile] madman_magnet  [livejournal.com profile] stardust_20  and [livejournal.com profile] simply_taken

1. I found LJ in my quest for good Bones fic. After reading the umpteenth excellent fic from  [livejournal.com profile] simply_taken , I decided if I had to sign up before I could tell her how awesome her work is, then I had to join LJ. Her work is that good. &  a good chunk of the non-LJ fic I've seen is that bad.

2. I love stories. I have since I was 4. This explains why I love good novels, good fanfic, various movies & Shows & country & western music. I know when I say I like C&W ppl in my generation look at me like I have AIDS & just asked them to sleep with me, but any song telling a great story is usually C&W & I love it. *g*

3. Laughing is my new fave pastime. The first author I've ever read who was so funny that I was reading her books & trying RLY hard not to lol as loudly, or as long, as I wanted to, for fear that the ppl on the bus with me/in the hair salon with me/in public with me would begin to feel I was insane, was Kristin Billerbeck. I HIGHLY rec her. *g*  Start with either her Ashley Stockingdale or Spa Girls series.

4. I'm from Jamaica. Lived here all my life. Fiercely proud of it. And s'times when I've read s'thing on LJ I have to edit what I want to say abt it cuz how I RLY feel can only be said in patois & as far as I know, most of y'all wouldn't understand it. ;)

5. Like [livejournal.com profile] huronia , I have a very small core of ppl that I call friends. I'm very friendly tho, so my friends tease me that I know everyone cuz pretty much anytime we're together we'll run into ppl I know that they've never met before.

6. My love for laughing is probably equal to or surpassed by my love for romance. I'm all over RL love stories, or romance novels or romantic comedies. If 2 ppl fall in love anywhere, I most likely will be there with bells on. I also wish that more men were old schl. I love how women were seen as special & to be protected back in the day. In Kate & Leopold I fell in love with Leo partly because of his old schl charm -- u stand when a lady leaves or arrives in a room, you hand write an apology &  make her dinner & take her dancing when u've been asinine etc. Ironically enough, since I was not raised around these kinds of men, whenever a man tries to do this with me, I  usually mess it up. Once when an aunt of mine was giving me & a young man a ride, he went to the passenger side front door & opened it so I opened the back door. He stared at me, confused. My aunt lol'd & said "Hon, he opened the door for you." Whereupon I was like *blush* My bad. Thx!

7. [livejournal.com profile] sagepat is my RL XX bff. I can frequently be heard saying "Pat, why am I angry/upset/sad?" & she ALWAYS knows. lol. Uncanny, I  know, but 100% true. I love that girl like whoa.

8. I, the hopeless romantic, have never been in love. Why yes, my life is a study in irony.

9. I believe in Jesus but in a very relational kinda way. For much of my life, I've related to Him as Friend & Rock. We've been thru a ton of stuff together. 2009 was my Year From Hell & rly shook my faith & yet...even tho I tried to leave Him (as much as a person can evade the Divine) I just failed miserably. I kind of have accepted that I can't get rid of Him. Which is oddly comforting.

10. Children. I don't have any. But having lived with my surprise younger bro (my mom thought she was in menopause but wait no...she was pregnant! 0_o) I realised just how much work these small humans are & I have resolved not to have any without a husband. cuz I want s'body TIED to me who gets that these babies? r non-optionally also his responsibility. If I had my way, I'd similarly tie trusted family members & my core friends to all my offspring so we'd all help raise them & would hopefully not get exhausted trying to keep up with them. Also, I have started looking at babies & small children with srs longing...I feel as tho if I don't marry some awesome guy soon, my uterus will protest by finding a way to be an agent of parthenogensis.

You made me have to google 'parthenogensis'. And I was a Biology major. LOL! Oh the things we forget. BRING ON THE BABY GIRLS!! :D
U are awesome and ILU! Maybe one day I'll think of anything remotely interesting about myself and do this one.

Awww bb I'm sry. LJ was being silly last night & wouldn't let me hyperlink it no matter how many times I tried, so I gave up. But it would've saved u googling. BABY GIRLS R MY FAVE THING in theory. I'm always surrounded by boys & I still manage to adore them with all my heart. So maybe I just love babies? u r so...wow. I rly enjoy u & I'm glad we're getting to be friends *g* *adores u s'more* u have TONS of interesting stuff, for instance "1. I had a friend named mysti. She came to my house & ever since has always been found in the company of my kids. It's like free babysitting, except now the kids have Jamerican accents. Not sure what to do with that."

1. I also found LJ in my quest for Bones fic.

2. I won't mock you for your love of C&W I find as a get older, it has more appeal.

3. I'm going to try your author recommendation. I have had similar experiences with loling in public. I have Ricky Gervais' podcasts on my Ipod and have found myself bent over laughing. Quite embarassing.

4. I have never been to Jamaica, but would love to go sometime. Did you go away for post secondary? Quite a number of Jamaican students went to my husband's university (St. Mary's in Halifax)

6 - 8 You shmoopy romantic, you

9 - I get that

10 Your theory on child raising is very sound.

Thanks for playing along

Not Canada tho. I confess that cold scares me. 0_o While it is true that we Canadians put our shorts on as soon as it hits 15 degrees and keep em' on until the leaves turn colour, if you visit in July, it should be a balmy 25 - 30. Not what you're used to in July, I know, but still tolerable.

Actually 25 would be cool to me & 30 would be normal. Ok, July it is :)

1. I love that you emphasized 'good' here. I love me some fic, but I am a total fic snob. It has to be worth my time.

2. I love country music too! Though, I'm from the Midwest & it seems to be more socially acceptable here. ;) Who are some of your favorite artists?

4. (I'm sure you hear this a lot..) I've been to Jamaica, many many moons ago. Okay, so maybe it was only 13 years ago. My mom & I went on a cruise and we stopped in Ocho Rios - climbed the Dunns River Falls and everything.

5. WORD. You took the words right out of my mouth here. I'm very friendly, but the group of people I actually call friends is small.

8. Me too, hon. Me too. My female cousin & I have (JOKINGLY) decided we're going to go ahead and marry each other if we don't find men by the time we're 30. We figured marrying your cousin of the same sex (when you prefer the opposite sex) would make that blow a little better. ;)

1. I am a total fic snob. It has to be worth my time. I think the phrase ur looking for here is "fic connoisseur". ;)

2. Fell in love with Rascal Flatts the first time I heard "Prayin' for Daylight". I also have music from Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, Christian Kane, Steve Azar, Chad Brock, Braid Paisley and Blake Shelton. Just found Lady Antebellum & grew up listening to various Randy Travis songs.

3. lol Actually no I don't. It's hard for me to say if I like Ochi (that's our abbreviation for Ocho Rios) or not. I spent many summers there as a teen but haven't been back in a while. Dunn's River Falls I climbed with tourists & not my father. BIG mistake. cuz I was doing it all wrong & almost fell (lol). If I'd been with Dad, who was raised in rural J'ca & knows all abt rivers & climbing, I would have liked it instead of going "Oh God I'm gonna ddddddddddddiiiiiiieee!"

5. :)

8. lol I see u guys know how to bring out the big guns. Here's to u both finding AWESOME men by 29. *raises glass*

Most fic is crap, particularly that which you find on ff.net. I came to LJ because of Battlestar Galactica and have been here for 6 years ...

I have to honestly confess ... I don't always understand what you're saying. For example your #2 ... I haven't got a clue. I don't speak "text" and am often lost with the contractions and short forms people use. I also have to confess that it turns me right off and I tend not to read when people write to me like that. I'm okay with a short comment but it's like reading a whole different language (you probably could write in patois if you like, it'd be the same difference to me!). So there you go ... I'm old and clueless. :)

I might get to this, we'll see. Life is always crazy busy for me in the summer: my eldest is done school next week (except for exams) and my hubby is around more, not to mention all the garden work I have to do and stuff around the house (house is 106 years old and falling apart) ... but thanks for sharing. :)

Most fic is crap lol. But nothing I've read from u falls in this category.

Oh....my bad. C&W was just me being too lazy to type "country & western" again. Was there anything else that was unclear? I don't want u to be clueless, especially not with a post that was meant to be friendly & welcoming.

I always forget that u have other things doing, honestly. This is 100% cuz u write good fic & I am always wanting to read the next chapter of whatever it is & I have instant gratification issues. But if u don't get to it it's fine. There is no pressure, rly. As for the next chapters of Always & The Fic Whose Name I Keep Forgetting But Is Set Post-Finale now, that I absolutely need u to get to but not at the expense of ur other responsibilities. What can I say? I'm a fan.
